Fairfield County Concours, 2009

Westport, Connecticut, September 11th 2009; It is Friday afternoon at the Fairfield County Hunt Club. Preparations are busily underway for this weekends Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance. Though all the work really started weeks ago, it’s one week after a terrific Lime Rock weekend and its showtime again! We are pleased to be apart of this late summer…OK, it’s after labor day, call it early fall event. We are pleased this event’s visionary founders Bill Scheffler and John Shook have included us again in the planning and orchestration of their “cariffic creation”. Our efforts for the 2009 weekend take 5 forms; exhibit vehicle preparation and transportation for our clients, event sponsorship, award design/creation, an educational seminar, & hands on operational event assistance. Saturday’s seminar goes well with Head restoration technician Charlie Webb with master panel beater and Panel Shop principal Steve Hall

illustratiing some of the finer points of vehicle evaluation as Kent Bain ties it all together with overview. Saturday also sees the special awards our shops have created delivered to join some awfully nice Tiffany glass on the awards table. Late Saturday evening we are all pleased to see job one completed with all the cars we have restored and or prepared for exhibit loaded in our trailers and ready for Sunday. All this one week after our involvement in Lime Rock’s Sunday in the Park event and Vintage fall festival weekend. Busy indeed, though it easily beats the alternative and late night shop ambience has remained professionally upbeat. Thanks to all so motivated to see this through graciously & properly.

Saturday’s tour and seminar come off nicely despite some threatening skies. Sunday awakens to clear skies and perfect temperatures as a superb field assembles to create an exhibit any lover of automobiles is sure to savor. On the field are many friends and machines we’ve had a hand in. Awards follow the day’s exhibition and we are more than pleased to see the enthusiastic reception our small group of unique special awards celebrating art and the automobile receive among those so recognized in the drive up presentation. It is all the more gratifying to both owners and our staff to see a few of our projects recognized among which we find.

  • Peter Kalikow’s 250 GT Pinin Farina Cabriolet takes Best Sports Car
  • Phil Liaconna’s superb MGPA Tickford garners or ARI created “Labor of Love” trophy
  • Steve Novak’s BMW just completed and 1st time shown 3.0 CS Coupe wins its class

On to a few photos which tell more of the grace and ambience of this wonderful weekend spent communing with cars of distinction than words could ever do. Finally a huge thanks you to the aforementioned founders, MC Donald Osgood, Miles, Mariann and all who work so hard make it all work seamlessly with a special casual elegance.
