Greenwich Concours, 2011

What a difference a year makes. The aggressively nasty storms that frequented the late afternoon activities of 2010 were a thing of the past. Add to this one of the best fields of exhibits ever assembled in Greenwich, with record attendance, and it is indeed magic. The weather could not have been better in 2011, and that gift was noted and well received by all. It was a joyful event indeed as its creators, Bruce and Genia Wennerstrom, have offered up from the onset. Sadly Genia passed away in May and we are all sure that the wonderful weather and the fine flavor the event broadcast were her gifts to us all. We owe a great deal to Genia’s hard work and commitment. Bruce did a superb job of holding the fort and we wish him well in dealing with the loss of a lifelong perfect partner.

We were delighted to have once again been invited to be a part of this superb national-level event. Early Saturday morning of Automotive Restorations Inc. and Vintage Racing Services Inc., personnel were out in force and on the filed directing, parking, and generally assisting with operations. Yours truly was at the entry gate assisting invited exhibitors into the fold with Wennerstrom family members Mary, April, Christa, Kirk, and Leif creating all the structure and doing the hard work. The field was soon awash with fine vehicular machinery and it was onto the matter at hand... finding the best among a field of near perfection. Sunday proved a repeat of Saturday, with Bonhams auction adding even more to the day’s activities. The location, all the gracious hospitality, and added activities, plus the contribution which Bruce and Genia’s concours concept incorporates, tied together by all that fine familial organization, make this one the best and most user friendly spots for car lovers to spend a day or the full weekend. With a completely different field of entries on the field both days, it is hard to say no to either.

On both Saturday’s and Sunday’s fields we were please to see a good number of our friends and clients exhibiting cars that have passed through our shops.

The following photos tell the tale.

The difference is in the details and what a treat some of these bits of style are. A Concours at its best, as seen by our friend and automotive photographer extraordinaire, Michael Allen Ross

Many thanks go to all: a field of entrants second to none, those supportive sponsors, and especially Bruce and the entire Wennerstrom family who work so hard and effectively to make this event run so enjoyably. We were very pleased to be a part, assisting with field operations and helping exhibitors and clients with all those superb cars that graced the lawn in 2011.
