Three Summer Season Sundays

  • Three Summer Season Sundays

6 events, 3 days & our ARI Guys take good care again…and again…and yet again!!!

The incredible post-millennium growth of the collector car hobby means we find ourselves on the road often with double event days a frequent reality. Our mission is clear and we do whatever’s needed to make sure cars and customers are well taken care of. It’s June 18th and Father’s Day 2017 starts this story with ARI clients and their cars on exhibit to good effect at two different venues. Things quiet down in the Northeast after that and the dog days of Summer ensue. Come Fall the sticky season is over and we’re back on the road in Westport, CT, and Scarsdale, NY. Two weeks later our doubleheader days end for 2017 with two nice, come-as-you-are events in Connecticut. The story unfolds as follows--we all enjoyed ourselves and are pleased to have been of service.

  • We’re ready! The interior and exterior of a 1960 Cadillac convertible are finished and detailed to perfection. The VRS Rental Volvo 122s Rally car is cleaned then waxed; we are off to opposite ends of the Connecticut coast.

  • Winner: American Postwar 1 - 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Conv. Joseph O'Connell

June 28, 2017 finds Cadillac man Brad O’Connell and Brian Oliver of ARI at the New England Concours d’Elegance at Mohegan Sun Casino. A rainy start but a good day as they come home with a First in Class

  • While on that same late June day some 60 miles to the south and west: VRS’s own Tony Christy exhibits the VRS Rally Volvo Amazon at Norwalk, Connecticut’s, New England Auto Museum show to good result!!

  • We jump ahead to Sunday, October 1, 2017. The dog days of summer are over! ARI’s Oliver Morris has loaded Brad’s superb ‘60 Eldorado in the trailer and then into the exhibit at the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance where he meets Geri Barrett who drove his ARI-restored 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 Adenauer sedan down from Easton, CT. Result, class awards for both Brad and Geri and lots of good car talk & fun.

  • Ready to load and show: That very same superb ‘60 Eldorado that took honors at the New England Concours d’Elegance awaits Joseph (Brad) O’Connell in its Fall finery. This time it’s Oliver Morris of ARI who does the honors, helping Brad garner a class win at the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance on a stunningly nice October day.

  • Meanwhile on October 1st in Westport, CT: it is early Sunday AM for Bill Scheffler’s & Frank Taylor’s Concours d’Caffeine station-side area gathering with the Tour d’Caffeine to follow. We’ve just finished a very special Jaguar project Bill is graciously presenting on this day…Special indeed!... John passed away & Bill finished his pal’s vision…Read above left.

  • Bill with Susie & Cindy Shuck rejoice in a project’s completion and John’s legacy continues on!

  • A scant two weeks later it happens again. We are at the Small Car Company’s AIR-COOLED show in downtown Westport, CT, at Veterans Green Park. Exhibited: Kent’s 1962 Corvair Monza Spyder turbo convertible, Ella Lewis’ 1976 VW Westphalia Camp-mobile, Josh Lewis’ 1972 Porsche 911 RS. Nice, casual event made even better when Al Baran shows up with an RSK Porsche tribute we helped him with and we have a chat by the Westphalia (above center).

  • The two shows--one day closer: Meanwhile, back at the King Ranch in Redding, CT: Andy Benenson, Elizabeth and ARI’s Brian Oliver are at the AACA meet that Bill and Dick King host. As Elizabeth dances with recently ARI-restored ‘58 Ford Ranchero we tidy their matching ‘52 Curtis Midget race car. Also on the field is Andy’s 1949 Cadillac convertible we restored a couple of decades ago & Ed & Brian’s red Chevy pickup. That ‘49 Caddy still looks great; a stylish and comfortable ride to this low-key and lovely fall car lovers’ event.
