The ARI tent

The ARI tent

Once again as for so many years past the people who make all those motive miracles happen at Automotive Restorations Inc., were pleased to assist Bruce and the Wennerstrom family secure the “nuts and bolts” of their outstanding New England area Concours. The weather Gods were kind this year and all ran as smoothly as those 12 and 16 cylinder machines on exhibit had every right to expect. Among the exhibitors were quite a number we’ve had our hands in over the years. Concours flavors and a few of those same cars can be seen in the photos following.

There was a buzz around the ARI tent all weekend. The superb 1952 Porsche 356 Pre A coupe we restored some years ago for Jim Kymer was on offer as was another recent ARI assisted restoration. That dark blue and stunning display is a 1938 Bentley 4 ½ Liter Park Ward convertible with unique disappearing top . This was a joint hobby format restoration by owner John Faigle with ARI crafts-people when needed. As I write this both have found new homes.

Andy and Elizabeth's beautiful Caddy

Andy and Elizabeth exhibited their 1936 Series 60 Cadillac 4 door convertible. We sold this only a few months prior on behalf of the owner we restored it for nearly 2 decades ago. Harley Earl’s influence and panache were never better served than GM’s attractive offerings from this year. Of note: ARI painted this car in the early 90s and it certainly has passed the test of time well and at the day's end was an award winner. Well done Harley, Elizabeth & Andy. Drive ON in style!

Usually driven in anger at vintage racing events with those other Trans Am ground pounders, Mayo Smith’s original and rapid Shelby GT 350 decided to take it slow for a weekend. This gave the guys at Vintage Racing Services Inc time to relax from the pit stops and ongoing trackside repairs while Mayo and Mustang basked in the shoreline’s sun.

The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance is a full weekend of activities with the tour Friday and social gatherings aplenty after each day’s activities. Come Sunday evening many among the ARI staff who had assisted throughout the weekend could be found helping with cleanup. We’d each enjoyed our participation and were appreciative of all the thanks and obvious enjoyment Concours exhibitors expressed. Quite a number of cars we displayed found recognition. Our congratulations and thanks to all for coming and starting the summer out right.
