Lime Rock 2009, Fall Festival With A Special Sunday In The Park

Lime Rock Park; Labor Day weekend, what a way to focus the fading “official” speed and show summer season on all we enjoy! Lime Rock’s Vintage Fall Festival and Sunday in the Park Concours d’Elegance is the place where the art of the automobile, elegance, mechanical beauty, power, speed and the car control necessary to put it all to work come together. This is a great place to be come labor day weekend and we happy to be here! As a collector car and vintage race car restoration/preparation group we pride ourselves on aesthetic perfection combined with the dedication, skill and knowledge to be sure it our work feels and works as good as it looks. This “complete process” approach is this event’s hallmark and it reflects our company culture perfectly. Sure the Monterey Historics in combination with Pebble Beach reflect the same thinking, but Lime Rock is close to home and in our blood. Further, it is not spread out, all happens in beautiful Lime Rock Motorsports Park and right on track; no golf course for this Concour’s venue. Viva Lime Rock

This is the one time each year that Automotive Restorations Inc and Vintage Racing Services Inc. combine. It is our privilege to show “our stuff” by artfully combining forces to facilitate wins for our clients on both the exhibit and performance side of the equation. Case in point; Rob’s Just competed E type Coupe and Andy’s superb Aston martin DB5 coupe. Having undergone a complete restoration at our shops, both get primped and prepped for exhibit, make the 120 mile round trip at speed and garner class awards prior to a trip home savored by both woners. This “Sunday in the Park” also saw recognition of Michael’s exceptional Moretti 750 Barchetta among others we see to at Automotive Restorations Inc; all the while our of vintage race cars waited their turn patiently under the VRS tents only a few feet off the main straight. Where else can one comprehensively compare the racing test beds that developed the road and GT cars displayed, revered, demonstrated and honored side by side? As Jim Freeman’s Aston Martin DB4GT roared to victory Monday the connection was clear to see. Great stuff.

Sunday in the Park, what a crowd, what a show!

What a weekend, track time aplenty with a varied race format over the weekend allowing all racers a variety of experiences within its 3 days of on track activity. VRS cars & drivers found the podium from time to time, but the real reward for all attending was simply to joy and excitement of seeing this event reestablish itself as one of the highlights of our season. Adding to all the exciting high speed track activity was Sunday in the Park, a concours event that saw over 700 cars exhibited the full way round the circuit (more on this at www.limerock.com ). The photos tell the story. NO fuss, no bother, just good racing, a marvelous display of the art of the automobile and great fun with some of the finest vehicular machinery to be found anywhere. WELL DONE!!! And A HUGE thank you to Murray Smith, Skip Barber and all who made it work so well in 2009. Long live the Lime Rock Vintage Fall Festival.
