Bill knew a great deal about this car before he commissioned us to undertake the restoration. He had owned if for years and shared the vintage motoring fun it provided with his kids. It was almost a family heirloom. Well used and enjoyed with the years taking their toll. Another key ingredient of the decision to restore was it’s history. All was known from day one through contact with its prior owner. Unlike many L81 big block 2nd series Vets it had never been wrecked and all the pieces were original. The tank sticker was soon located and with all the information double checked, we went to work.
The photo captions tell the tale. All was restored from to frame up to be just as GM built it. The result: a project we are all proud of and an NCRS Top Flyte award first time shown. Noting that it was “too perfect to drive much” Bill, a collector who drives his machines well and often. See Bill participating in the La Carrera Panamericana here. This perfect Corvette sold to a long time friend who is now having all the fun.
