In 1974, Porsche unveiled their first significant redesign for the famed 911. Stylistically, the 911 remained very similar in shape but now implemented larger impact bumpers to comply with crash safety standards. The black accordion bumpers, wider flares, and rear heckblende became an iconic delineation between the early "long-hood" cars and the refreshed design. Most importantly, however, were the technical updates to the running gear. The 2.4L flat-6 engine was increased across the board to 2.7L and gained a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system. Although horsepower gain was minimal in base trim, the 2.7L delivered improved acceleration thanks to higher torque figures and a much broader powerband. The 911S produced 175 horsepower, 25 more than the base model, thanks to increased compression, larger intake ports, and a more performance-oriented camshaft. With upgraded suspension components, including Bilstein shocks and revised lightweight semi-trailing arms, the Porsche 911S was a shockingly capable sportscar in its day. Even by today's standards, the 911S delivers fantastic acceleration and handling characteristics that made the Porsche a legend among racers and enthusiasts.

This 1976 Porsche 911S is a wonderfully original example of the G-Series 911. It is finished in its correct silver paint over a black leather interior with blue carpeting. The color combination is striking and perfectly suits the sporting lines of Porsche's most beloved coupe. The 2.7L flat-6 engine sends 175 horsepower through a 5-speed transaxle, both of which perform flawlessly. The Porsche's engine benefits from a recent rebuilt, at which time a new clutch was also installed. The increased power and torque are immediately apparent and create a more engaging and more usable driving experience than earlier 911s. Recent brake work ensures that this car comes to a stop quickly and without drama, while significant service history shows a well-maintained S-model in excellent mechanical condition. The odometer shows 78,931 original miles, though under 500 miles have been added since the engine rebuild. This car is an excellent driver-quality classic Porsche 911S, just as at home on a cruise through town as it is on a spirited drive through the canyons.
