This rare and gorgeous 512BB is one of roughly 900 produced before Ferrari replaced the carburetor set up with fuel injection in the 512BBi. True 512 afficionados prefer the carburetor set up to fuel injection for better performance and throttle response. This 1980 example is finished in its original factory color combination of Black (Nero) with black leather, which is a rather rare and desirable color combination. Subsequent to a no-stone-unturned restoration in the earlier 2000’s, the car took a Gold in class at the 2015 Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach.
Since then the car has mostly been in temperature controlled storage with occasional exercise. In advance of this sale the car was gone through from top to bottom by Ferrari experts Automotive Restorations Inc. in Stratford, CT, and it has been extensively road tested to ensure a great and trouble free driving experience. Paint condition is superb, panel fit is flawless, the interior is immaculate with only the most subtle evidence of any use at all.
The car comes complete with all factory tools in their proper case and all factory manuals. A very recent extensive road test confirms that the driving experience is as it should be… great performance, smooth and explosive acceleration, and wonderful handling.
